Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Mapystik, a personal map and trip planning app. By creating an account or using Mapystik, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.

1. The Service

Mapystik lets users save places, organize categories and tags, plan trips, add notes and travel bookings, import or export data, generate trip PDFs, and share selected content with other Mapystik users.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must not access another user's account or data without permission.
• Registration may be opened, limited, or closed by the administrator at any time.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Mapystik to:

• Violate laws, third-party rights, privacy rights, or intellectual property rights.
• Upload, store, or share unlawful, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or malicious content.
• Attempt to bypass authentication, security rules, rate limits, or access controls.
• Disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or misuse Mapystik or its third-party services.
• Store highly sensitive information such as payment card numbers, government IDs, health records, or secrets in notes, bookings, or place records.

4. Your Content

You keep ownership of the places, notes, trips, bookings, categories, tags, profile content, imports, and other content you add to Mapystik. You grant Mapystik the limited permission needed to host, process, display, back up, share, export, and otherwise operate that content as part of the service.

You are responsible for the content you enter and for making sure you have the right to share it. When you invite another user to copy or collaborate on content, you authorize Mapystik to make that selected content available to the recipient.

Copy sharing creates an independent version for the recipient. Collaboration keeps one live shared trip, so collaborators may edit trip content. Owners may stop sharing or delete a shared trip, which can remove collaborator access. Guests may leave a shared trip and may be offered the choice to keep a personal copy. You are responsible for understanding which sharing mode you select before sending or accepting an invitation.

5. Google Maps and Third-Party Services

Mapystik uses Firebase, Google Cloud, Google Maps Platform, Google Fonts, jsDelivr, and other third-party tools. Google Maps features are subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. Third-party services may change, become unavailable, impose limits, or affect Mapystik functionality.

6. Imports, Exports, and Backups

Mapystik may import data from Google Maps lists, Google Takeout-style files, Mapstr files, or Mapystik backups. Imported data can contain errors, duplicates, outdated details, or third-party content. You are responsible for checking imported data before relying on it.

Exports and PDFs are generated for your convenience. Once downloaded, exported files are your responsibility to store, secure, and delete.

7. Travel, Maps, and Route Information

Mapystik is a planning tool, not a navigation, emergency, safety, booking, or transportation service. Place details, opening hours, routes, travel times, coordinates, and imported map data may be inaccurate or outdated. Always verify critical travel details directly with official sources before relying on them.

8. Administration, Suspension, and Termination

The administrator may suspend or terminate accounts, disable registration, remove content, delete user data, or restrict access when needed to protect the service, comply with legal obligations, respond to misuse, or manage the project. You may request account or data deletion by contacting the administrator. Deletion requests are normally processed within 30 days, but backups, logs, provider records, and records needed for legal, security, or abuse-prevention purposes may persist for a limited period.

9. Availability and Changes

Mapystik is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may be changed, limited, paused, or discontinued at any time. The service may be interrupted by maintenance, browser behavior, network conditions, third-party service limits, API billing settings, or technical failures.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mapystik makes no warranties about uninterrupted operation, data accuracy, data preservation, fitness for a particular purpose, or error-free service. You should keep independent backups of important data.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mapystik and its administrator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, travel disruption, business interruption, or third-party service failures arising from your use of Mapystik.

12. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mapystik and its administrator from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your content, your misuse of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.

13. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains how Mapystik collects and uses information. By using Mapystik, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to These Terms

Mapystik may update these Terms from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page shows when the latest version took effect. Continued use of Mapystik after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
